Job Summary
The Senior Electricity Market Optimization Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and tuning of advanced power systems application software. Working within an agile team, the role focuses on enhancing Electricity Market Management Systems (MMS) for utilities and system operators. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions while mentoring junior staff.

Job Details
### Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and evolve software in a fast-paced, agile environment using modern infrastructure.
- Provide domain knowledge and technical leadership to a team of electricity markets application engineers.
- Lead electricity market application development to ensure on-schedule delivery within budget.
- Author technical documentation including design notes and testing procedures.
- Provide budgetary estimates for new project tasks.
- Collaborate with customers throughout the lifecycle to meet quality and functional requirements.
- Mentor junior team members and interact with product development and cross-functional teams.
- Apply SDLC principles including Lean/Agile/XP, CI, product security, scalability, and refactoring techniques.
### Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) plus 2+ years of experience in power systems analysis with a focus on electricity market optimization.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant internship experience in power systems or optimization.
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with thesis-related work in power systems or optimization.
### Desired Characteristics
- Strong business knowledge of Wholesale Market Management Systems (PJM, ISO New England, etc.).
- Hands-on experience developing optimization software for Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch.
- Strong understanding of Mixed-Integer Programming (MIP).
- Proficiency in test automation, GitHub, and source control management.
- Proven ability to learn new software development practices and tools.
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.
