Sr. Distinguished Engineer
Job Summary
As a Sr. Distinguished Engineer, you will lead the technical strategy for the Card Acquisitions engineering organization, driving innovation in real-time credit decisioning and platform scalability. You will manage a team of over 300 engineers, mentor senior leaders, and foster a culture of engineering excellence through hands-on technical contributions. This role requires deep expertise in distributed systems and cloud technologies to optimize customer-facing credit products and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive technical vision for Card Acquisitions platforms

- Oversee full-stack system architecture, data ecosystems, and SRE functions
- Decommission legacy systems and implement scalable cloud-based solutions
- Partner with product teams to optimize credit decisioning and market experimentation

- Lead the multi-year strategy to decommission legacy systems and converge the acquisitions stack.
- Stand up and scale a hybrid SRE + Engineering Productivity function.
- Design solutions that enable non-technical contributors to design, test, and deliver marketing experiments.
### Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- At least 9 years of experience in Software engineering and solution architecture.
- At least 9 years of experience in Enterprise architecture and design patterns.
- At least 9 years of experience with Javascript, TypeScript, and SPA frameworks.
### Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems architecture, or platform engineering.
- 5+ years of experience leading large-scale engineering organizations (50+ engineers across multiple management layers).
- Deep experience with API design, microservices architecture, and platform evolution in high-availability, high-throughput environments.
- Experience founding or leading SRE/production excellence functions, including SLO management, incident response, and reliability engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with product management and business stakeholders to co-own product strategy.
- Track record of decommissioning legacy systems and executing large-scale migrations without disrupting production traffic.
- 10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, etc.
