Senior Staff Software Engineer

### Key Responsibilities - Lead "Big Rock" projects, moving between Smart Trailers and Connected Equipment teams based on pressing business needs. - Drive major leaps in architecture and product capability, acting as a technical leader. - Engage directly with customers in the field to understand pain points and translate them into effective technical solutions. - Lead the adoption of AI-first workflows to automate routine tasks and enhance high-level problem-solving efficiency. - Collaborate across firmware and hardware teams to optimize system performance, balancing real-time visibility with energy efficiency. - Mentor engineers and foster a high-ownership environment where technical excellence prevails. - Partner with Engineering Management to ensure long-term technical health and sustainable system growth. ### Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience. - 12+ years of experience in software design and development, including at least 4 years in an architect or leadership role. - Proven technical independence with a demonstrated ability to define and drive complex projects to completion. - Expert in writing high-quality, maintainable code with proficiency in utilizing AI tools (e.g., Cursor, LLMs) to scale output. - Extensive experience building and maintaining web services at massive scale on cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. - Strong communication skills capable of managing technical discussions across Legal, Hardware, and Product teams. - Experience in successfully taking a product from 0-1 and navigating the scaling process. - Applied experience with AI-native workflows to maximize development speed. ### Preferred Qualifications - 15+ years of relevant industry experience. - Strategic experience influencing company-level product and infrastructure roadmaps. - Expertise in systems mentorship, focusing on full lifecycles, edge cases, and failure modes from edge to cloud.
