Senior Systems Engineer AI
Job Summary
Atlassian is building an observability layer for AI-assisted software development to measure and attribute AI-generated code. This role involves designing and implementing cross-platform endpoint agents that integrate directly with Git workflows. You will own the architecture and deployment of systems that track developer and AI agent activity.
Responsibilities
- Develop AI code attribution systems
- Design data pipelines for endpoint activity
- Integrate with Git internals and CLI tools
- Maintain cross-platform agent performance
Required Skills
- Systems Engineering
- Git Internals
- Go/Low-level Programming
- Endpoint/Agent Infrastructure
- Distributed Systems
Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Build the core systems that detect and attribute AI-generated code at the line level across real Git workflows (rebases, cherry-picks, resets, and all).
- Design reliable pipelines for capturing, classifying, storing, and shipping developer + agent activity from the endpoint.
- Work directly with Git internals (reflog, commit identity across history rewrites, blob-level attribution) to collect data without interrupting developers.
- Build and maintain integrations with coding agents (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Codex, Gemini CLI, and more) via editor/CLI hooks.
- Own cross-platform behavior across macOS, Linux, and Windows.
Requirements:
- Strong systems engineer background in backend, OS internals, endpoint/agent software, or developer infrastructure.
- Comfort with concurrent, long-running, low-level software (Go is preferred, but not mandatory).
- Experience building production systems that must be fast, reliable, and invisible to the user.
- High-agency, high-responsibility individuals with strong product intuition.
- Enthusiastic about developer tools and using data to understand engineering workflows with AI agents.
- Bonus: Experience with Git internals, dev infra, endpoint/monitoring agents (EDR, telemetry), SQLite, or cross-platform native development.
